The ₱20,990 gap compares the Beyond the Box online listing with Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max listed price. It could change when local retailers announce their own iPhone 18 prices and card offers.

Also check the total before choosing installments. On Abenson’s listing, the displayed ₱87,490 installment price is ₱5,700 above its ₱81,790 online price, even though the installment plan is described as 0% interest.

The clearest upgrade is the variable-aperture main camera. It gives photographers more control over how much light enters the camera and how a shot looks. The A20 Pro, smaller Dynamic Island and higher battery rating add to the case for the newer phone.

The 17 Pro Max already has a large 120Hz display, three 48MP rear cameras and 8x optical-quality zoom. The 18 Pro Max does not bring a larger screen or a new long-zoom figure. Apple’s battery ratings are laboratory figures; they do not promise six extra hours in everyone’s daily use.

Our take: If you regularly shoot photos or video and want the new camera controls, the 18 Pro Max is worth waiting to see in person. If you mainly want a large-screen Pro Max for everyday use and travel photos, a genuine ₱79,000 offer makes the 17 Pro Max difficult to dismiss.

Can a bank card close the gap?

BPI: Its published Apple offer runs through September 30, 2026. At participating sellers, eligible BPI credit cards can access cash-price treatment with up to 24 months of FlexipayZero. Power Mac Center and The Loop’s terms mention cash price or up to ₱9,000 off eligible Apple products. Ask for the exact 17 Pro Max price and total installment amount; “up to ₱9,000” is not an extra ₱9,000 to subtract from Beyond the Box’s ₱79,000 online listing.

UnionBank: Beyond the Box advertises cash-price installments of up to 24 months for BPI and UnionBank at its retail stores. Electroworld also advertises a UnionBank installment-price offer on participating Apple items through September 30. The payable amount must be checked for the selected phone at the store or checkout.

Metrobank: Its published offer allows eligible cardholders to ask participating physical Apple resellers about 0% installments of up to 36 months through September 30. The bank says device prices and available terms vary by store; its cited offer excludes online purchases.

The much-shared RCBC September 15–17 iPhone flash sale has ended. Its discounts and cashback should not appear in a September 23 checkout calculation.
