Wild Siargao: Elevating Filipino Cuisine in the Island’s Culinary Scene

Add this Siargao Food Gem on Your Radar

Tucked along the coastal curve of Catangnan, Wild Siargao isn’t just another trendy restaurant with a tropical view—it’s a movement. One built on flavor, community, and a deep reverence for Filipino ingredients done differently.

The Siargao Food Gem You’ll Want on Your Radar

Consistently earning praise from both locals and travelers, Wild Siargao is ranked #2 out of 135 restaurants in Catangnan on TripAdvisor. With an outstanding 4.5-star rating, it’s become a must-visit for food-loving travelers exploring the surf capital of the Philippines.

The restaurant doesn’t rely on hype—it lets the food speak for itself. Expect dishes that are rich, vibrant, and unapologetically rooted in Filipino traditions—with a progressive twist.

Chef Andrew Malarky: Island Cooking, Reimagined

At the heart of Wild is Chef Andrew Malarky, whose culinary journey bridges global influences with a passion for homegrown ingredients. When the pandemic hit, Malarky co-led the now-iconic Siargao Kitchen Takeovers, inviting fellow chefs to collaborate and create—keeping the island’s food scene alive when tourism stood still.

After discovering his roots in Boracay, he helmed the kitchen of Dos Mestizos for 13 years while traveling the world and working in kitchens in New York, Melbourne, and Montreal. Chef Andrew Malarky now resides in Siargao, leading both Bayani at Harana and Wild Restaurant as well as Popolo Pizzeria in Dumaguete.

Progressive Filipino with a Purpose

Wild’s menu features Filipino dishes reinterpreted through a modern lens. Think smoky grilled eggplants turned into artful dips, locally sourced seafood paired with spiced coconut milk reductions, and meat dishes elevated with native herbs and rich sauces.

Photos of their food reveal more than technique—they reflect heart, intention, and care. It’s not just about looking good on the plate. It’s about telling a story with every bite.

Proudly Farm-to-Table

Wild doesn’t just talk local—they live it. The restaurant sources its ingredients from neighboring farmers and fisherfolk, ensuring freshness while uplifting the community around them.

In doing so, they’re not just nourishing their guests—they’re creating a circular ecosystem of support and sustainability that’s deeply needed in developing island economies.

Not Just a Meal—A Food Culture Experience

Beyond dining, Wild hosts frequent pop-up events and chef collaborations, infusing new flavors and ideas into the island’s culinary scene. These one-night-only affairs are known to sell out, attracting both tourists and longtime Siargao locals.

The vibe? Casual yet thoughtful. Cozy roadside seating under palms and stars. A warm welcome that feels like an invitation to a friend’s table.
