2) Most flexible option: Drive
The usual route passes through NLEX, SCTEX and TPLEX before continuing through Pangasinan and La Union toward Ilocos Sur. Allow around seven to nine hours with fuel, meal and comfort stops.
Leave Metro Manila around 3 AM to 4 AM if you want to reach Vigan before lunch. Confirm parking arrangements with Hotel Luna before departure, particularly during festivals and long weekends.
3) Fastest flight, but not always the fastest overall
You can fly from Manila to Laoag, then travel south by private transfer, van or bus to Vigan. Philippine Airlines currently sells direct Manila to Laoag flights, while the road portion from Laoag Airport to Vigan can still take roughly one and a half to two hours.
Flying makes more sense if you find a seat sale or plan to combine Vigan with Paoay, Laoag or Pagudpud. For a Vigan-only weekender, the direct overnight bus is usually simpler.

Day 1: Calle Crisologo Before the Crowds, Then Check Into the Museum
6:00 AM to 8:00 AM: Arrive and leave your bags
Ask Hotel Luna in advance if it can hold your luggage before check-in. Early room access should not be assumed, especially on weekends.
Walk toward Calle Crisologo while the street is still quiet. This is the best window for photos without thick crowds, parked vehicles and busy souvenir stores competing for the frame.
Have a Vigan empanada or a plate of Vigan longganisa for breakfast. The classic empanada commonly combines rice-flour dough, grated green papaya, egg and Vigan longganisa, served with local vinegar.
9:00 AM: Visit Syquia Mansion and Crisologo Museum
Syquia Mansion offers a look inside the former residence associated with President Elpidio Quirino and his family. It is normally open from 9 AM to noon and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, except Tuesdays. Admission is currently listed at ₱100 for regular visitors and ₱80 for students and senior citizens, but verify before visiting.
Continue to Crisologo Museum before returning to the hotel. Both stops are close enough to combine with the Calle Crisologo walk without arranging a full-day tour.
Lunch: Try Comedor at Hotel Luna

End the night with another walk along Calle Crisologo. The same street photographed at sunrise looks completely different once the lamps, shop signs and kalesas take over.
Day 2: Museums, Pottery and a Slower Hotel Afternoon
Morning: National Museum Ilocos
Start with breakfast at Hotel Luna if it is included in your package, then visit the National Museum Ilocos Regional Museum Complex.

Bantay Bell Tower remains one of the most recognizable structures near Vigan. However, recent visitors report that climbing access remains restricted because of structural damage, so plan this as an exterior photo stop unless local authorities confirm otherwise.
Lunch route: Pagburnayan and Hidden Garden
Continue to the Pagburnayan area and visit RG Jar Factory to see traditional burnay pottery. Ask before touching equipment or joining a pottery demonstration, and prepare a small donation or activity fee.
From there, continue to Hidden Garden for lunch. This is a practical place to order several Ilocano dishes for sharing instead of trying to fit each specialty into a separate restaurant stop.
Afternoon: Do less
Return to Hotel Luna for the pool, museum details you missed, or simply a quiet afternoon in the hotel.
This pause is important. Vigan’s main attractions are compact, and forcing a packed north-to-south Ilocos road trip into the same weekend defeats the advantage of staying in the Heritage Village.
Take a late-afternoon kalesa ride if you skipped it on Day 1. Agree on the route, duration and complete price before boarding.
Day 3: Eat, Shop and Bring Vigan Home
Have one final breakfast before checking out and leaving your bags with the hotel.
Use the morning for Calle Crisologo’s shops, Tongson’s Royal Bibingka or Vigan City Public Market. The public market is a practical place to compare longganisa and other locally made products, but bring an insulated bag if you are transporting meat back to Manila.

A strict Saturday-to-Sunday trip is possible, but it reduces the stay to 2D1N and makes the journey feel almost as long as the vacation. Hotel Luna deserves the extra night.
