Most first-time Bohol trips revolve around the same checklist: see a tarsier, take a photo at the Chocolate Hills, cruise the Loboc River, then head back to Panglao.
But with only three days, where you sleep and the order in which you visit these places can make a big difference.
For this edition of The CG Itinerary, we’re starting from Manila, spending the first night in Loboc, crossing the Bohol countryside the next day, then ending in Panglao for sunset, coffee, shopping and an easier trip back to the airport.

GET THERE: Manila to Bohol
Bohol is one of the easier Philippine islands to turn into a three-day escape because you can fly nonstop from Manila to Bohol-Panglao International Airport (TAG).
As checked in late August 2026, Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Philippines AirAsia all operate nonstop Manila to Bohol flights. There are roughly 46 departures per week, including around 20 on Philippine Airlines, 19 on Cebu Pacific and seven on AirAsia. Flying time is approximately 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes.

Sample one-way fares for upcoming dates were appearing from roughly ₱2,100 to ₱2,300 at the lower end, although baggage, seat selection, travel dates and demand can quickly push the final fare higher.

For this itinerary, try to land in Bohol between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. That lets you start sightseeing almost immediately without waking up at your destination before anything opens.
Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines currently offer the most schedule options on the route. On some dates, Cebu Pacific’s morning departure arrives around 8:25 AM, which lines up particularly well with this itinerary. Schedules change, so compare the actual times for your travel date.
Travel tip: On your return, look for a late-afternoon or evening flight. You’re effectively buying yourself several more hours in Bohol.

DAY 1: SEE MORE THAN THE USUAL BOHOL
9:15 AM | Start With Boholano Art
Before heading into the countryside, stop at the National Museum of the Philippines – Bohol in Tagbilaran City.
The museum occupies Bohol’s former Provincial Capitol and currently houses three major exhibitions. Pagpauli presents works by Bohol-born National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva, while other galleries cover the 2013 earthquake and Bohol’s natural history.
Current National Museum visiting hours list the Bohol museum as 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.

Continue to the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella.
The sanctuary is dedicated to the protection and conservation of the Philippine tarsier, one of Bohol’s most recognizable endemic animals.
Keep your voice down, follow the sanctuary’s rules and never use flash photography.

12:00 NN | Baclayon Is More Than a Quick Church Stop
Drive toward Baclayon and visit Baclayon Church.
The present coral-stone church was completed in 1727. It suffered extensive damage during the 2013 Bohol earthquake and later underwent restoration. The adjacent museum contains religious artifacts and historical pieces connected to the town.
12:45 PM | Eat Something That Actually Feels Like Bohol
Instead of rushing to another tourist attraction, have lunch at Crescencia Food and Coffee.
The café operates from an ancestral home in Baclayon. Alongside Filipino dishes and coffee, visitors have highlighted combinations such as ube biko with sikwate, while the interiors include books, traditional games and works by Boholano artists, some of which are offered for sale.

Just a short distance away is Aproniana Gift Shop.
Interestingly, Aproniana is also included as a souvenir stop in Bohol’s own official countryside geotrail planning materials, together with Baclayon, the National Museum, the tarsier sanctuary, Bilar and Chocolate Hills.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Calamay, broas, ube products, locally made bags, woven products, shirts and Bohol crafts make better souvenirs if you actually want to bring a little of the destination home.
3:00 PM | Sleep Beside the Loboc River
Continue to Loboc River Resort.
Rather than returning all the way to Panglao after your first day, staying in Loboc puts you much closer to the countryside route you’ll continue the following morning.

Check in, swim, walk around the property or simply spend some time beside the river.
Firefly watching, guided stand-up paddleboarding, boat tours and other activities can also be arranged through the resort.

DAY 2: THE BOHOL ROAD TRIP
Have breakfast early.
Today is the part most travelers associate with the classic Bohol itinerary, but because you already slept inland, you don’t have to start by driving from Panglao.

Continue through the famous tree-lined road through Bilar on your way toward Carmen.

You can’t write a first-timer’s Bohol itinerary without them.
But the Chocolate Hills are also more interesting when understood as part of something bigger: Bohol is the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark.
Don’t just take the exact same viewpoint photo as everyone else.

After the countryside loop, head toward Panglao.
This is where splitting the two nights makes sense.

If you still have energy, head somewhere for drinks.
Escape, Alona Beach Bar is one option directly around Alona. Current listings show it operating into the early hours, making it workable for travelers who want something after dinner rather than heading immediately back to the hotel.
Before heading out, look at the bar’s current social posts for Happy Hour, event nights or drink offers.
DAY 3: COFFEE, LOCAL PRODUCTS AND HOME
Your last day should be deliberately easier.
Do not put Chocolate Hills on your departure day unless you enjoy watching the clock while you’re 50 kilometers away from your flight.
Stay around Panglao and Dauis instead.

Make Bohol Bee Farm your final substantial stop.
