7 of the Best Places to Visit in El Nido, Palawan

Look at that beauty.

El Nido, Palawan is a place of breathtaking beauty. Covered by exotic forests, clear turquoise waters, and white sand beaches, this town on the northwestern tip of Palawan Island in the Philippines is a wonderful destination for those seeking to escape from all the commotion of life. From waterfalls to caves to huge rock formations, there are plenty of places to explore!

Here are seven of the best places to visit in El Nido:

1. The town of El Nido

El Nido is the perfect place to explore and find your own little nook of paradise. The town is filled with narrow lanes and small, local restaurants. If you want to try out the island’s best seafood, look no further than El Nido! There are about 20 restaurants in the city specializing in fresh seafood dishes like grilled lobster, barbecued oysters, and fried fish. El Nido also has a market that sells fruits and vegetables from local farmers, handicrafts made by locals, and other items.

2. The Skyline Grill – Best Place to Try Nido Soup

Nido soup is a specialty dish of the municipality. Its special ingredient is bird saliva, which is harvested from the nido bird’s nests in the high cliffs of El Nido.

The soup has a gelatinous texture and is sweet and healthy. Try this unique delicacy at the Skyline Grill at Rizal St., Buena Suerte.

3. Twin Beaches – Best Place to Swim

Nacpan and Calitang are two beaches fondly called “Twin Beaches” due to their close proximity to each other. The Twin Beaches have outstanding views – long stretches of sandy beaches and bright blue water as far as the eye can see.

These beaches are perfect for photoshoots or simple beach bumming. You can also climb up the viewpoint and have a panoramic view of the beaches.

4. Taraw Peak – Best View of El Nido

Taraw Peak is a humongous limestone karst formation at the edge of El Nido. This natural rock precipice offers the best bird’s eye view of the municipality.

The trek to the top takes a couple of hours and some intense bouldering and rock-climbing, but once you reach the top, the view is so breathtaking that the uphill climb will definitely be worth it.

5. Mangroves and beaches

Mangroves are forests of salt-tolerant mangrove trees that grow in salty, brackish, or partially salty water. These trees are often found near the coast and provide a habitat to many forms of marine life.

El Nido’s beaches are long stretches of white sand that are perfect for swimming, sun tanning, and surfing. The areas around these beaches have beautiful mangrove forests too so you can explore!

6. Diving and snorkeling at El Nido Bay

El Nido is well-known for its diving and snorkeling opportunities. The town has the world’s third longest underwater coastline, with plenty of opportunities to explore. El Nido Bay is a popular spot for snorkeling, as are the nearby islands that surround the bay. It’s also possible to take guided tours by boat to nearby coral reefs.

7. Boat trips and kayaking

There’s no shortage of historical landmarks and natural wonders to explore in El Nido. Some of the most popular destinations include exploring the amazing rock formations along the coast, kayaking through mangrove forests, or taking boat trips to see some really interesting marine life.

Visiting El Nido means you’re never far from water. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for you to get out on your own boat!
