The grand Hotel de Oriente inside Las Casas was not transferred from Manila. It is a reconstruction inspired by the historic Hotel de Oriente that once stood in Binondo.
6. Its Architecture Covers Different Filipino Traditions
Las Casas is often associated with Spanish colonial architecture, but its collection also includes later architectural styles and a torogan, a traditional Maranao royal house.
7. The Estate Is Much Bigger Than the Main Village
Las Casas reportedly covers around 400 hectares. The familiar plazas, waterways and cobblestone streets form only part of the wider property.
8. It Is Also a Seaside Resort
